Eddleston Book Group held its first meeting in the village in January 2011. Since then, we have read over 100 books from classics to fantasy and from biographies to popular fiction. Highlights include: The Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother by Amy Chua, the Good Earth by Pearl Buck, Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austin, an Evil Cradling by Brian Keenan, The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie by Muriel Spark, The lady in the Van by Allan Bennett and many many others – Click here to have a look at the full list. We also occasionally watch a film.
We meet each month in each other’s homes though not everyone can make every meeting – with 16 members, this could sometimes be a bit of a ‘squash and a squeeze’. We also have an annual dinner and quiz in the Horseshoe Inn around Christmas time.
Our aim is to have fun, enjoy reading books we might not otherwise have chosen and catch up with friends old and new.
